This is more for the person who wants to do something "on the side" but if you are using this book to find work at home as your career, it might not quite meet your expectations. It is a good resource and help a person know how and where to go to get started. I would recommend purchasing this book and having is as a good reference book. Where the real jobs for mystery shoppers, transcriptionists and similar part-time specialties can be found. I expected to see a couple of useful tips for working from home, but no luck - it's entirely focused on explaining what home office is and how to get a job and avoid scams. This book might have been useful at the time of printing, but has nothing to offer today.

These schedules are often seen in corporate or federal/state agency telecommuting programs. In the following pages, you’ll hear companies say or imply this, and we’ll repeat it, too, as it will help you optimize your resume and job applications, and start working ASAP. In The 2-Second Commute , our first book, which has guided thousands of people on the exciting new Virtual Assistant career path.

My Book Notes

Unlike other "how to" books that just give a general overview without specifics on how to get started, this book gives lots and lots of websites to go to to find home-based work, how to search for them, what to watch out for, etc. It covers a lot of bases and gives plenty of specifics while keeping things short and sweet. There's nothing in this book that is repetitive or ridiculously obvious (something I've noticed a lot in similar books). "About this title" may belong to another edition of this title.

I don’t need constant interaction with my coworkers, and they often interrupt my workflow. Read each of the numbered questions/statements and circle the answer that most accurately describes you or your situation. There are no right or wrong answers; the best approach is simply to be as honest as possible. Your candor will also help assure that the assessment results are accurate, which in turn will guide you toward changes you might make to improve your chances for telework success. Even so, the success of a telework arrangement depends as much on the nature of the worker as it does on the work, and not everyone is suited to be home-based. The self-assessment that follows in Chapter 2 will help you determine whether you’re really ready to work at home.

I will never step back into that place again. The current bosses and unit managers in that place are rude. I've seen people go 6 hours at the least in a chair and not toileted while the aides sit at the desk and holler sit down when the resident tried to get up. The food is OK not the best,portions are too small. The upstairs is called the welfare unit and let me tell you it lives up to its name.
