This is more for the person who wants to do something "on the side" but if you are using this book to find work at home as your career, it might not quite meet your expectations. It is a good resource and help a person know how and where to go to get started. I would recommend purchasing this book and having is as a good reference book. Where the real jobs for mystery shoppers, transcriptionists and similar part-time specialties can be found. I expected to see a couple of useful tips for working from home, but no luck - it's entirely focused on explaining what home office is and how to get a job and avoid scams. My Book Notes
Unlike other "how to" books that just give a general overview without specifics on how to get started, this book gives lots and lots of websites to go to to find home-based work, how to search for them, what to watch out for, etc. It covers a lot of bases and gives plenty of specifics while keeping things short and sweet. There's nothing in this book that is repetitive or ridiculously obvious (something I've noticed a lot in similar books). "About this title" may belong to another edition of this title.

Your candor will also help assure that the assessment results are accurate, which in turn will guide you toward changes you might make to improve your chances for telework success. Even so, the success of a telework arrangement depends as much on the nature of the worker as it does on the work, and not everyone is suited to be home-based. The self-assessment that follows in Chapter 2 will help you determine whether you’re really ready to work at home.

Find this title in Libby, the library reading app by OverDrive. In our years of delivering work-at-home training programs at the U.S. State Department, military bases, community colleges, and so on, we’ve found that successful teleworkers share certain traits which give them an advantage in a home-based position. It involves working from home 100 percent of the time, with perhaps an occasional trip to the company office, or in-office training before staying home.
I didn't realize how many types of work at home jobs there were. I don’t think people should socialize with their coworkers. In the early days of telework, hirers often limited off-site arrangements to technical or other analytic work. As you’ll see in the following chapters, those narrow boundaries have expanded greatly and are continuing to grow—creating home-based opportunities across a wide spectrum of jobs, and creating entirely new job categories as well. Partial Telework usually consists of a regular schedule of one to three days per week at home, but can also include as few as two to three days per month.
Worse, with a 56-to-1 "scam ratio" in work-at-home ads, the terrain is a minefield of fraud. Worse, with a 56-to-1 scam ratio in work-at-home ads, the terrain is a minefield of fraud. While writing this book, we focused on the now that job seekers have emphasized, to help you find the quickest route to home-based jobs and projects that meet your needs. You’ll also find in-depth, action-ready details on more than 400 legitimate companies and other trustworthy sources of home-based work, rather than an introductory or overview approach.
Many freelance workers or independent contractors (in other words, the self-employed) enjoy this arrangement. Online, on our popular RatRaceRebellion.com Website, in our virtual-careers column at Military.com, and in our telework bulletin, where we’ve helped people around the world make their work-at-home dreams a reality. In our briefings to the FBI, the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Labor, and other agencies on the status of home-based jobs, scams, and telework.
In the media, with CNN, ABC News 20/20, The Wall Street Journal, Consumers Digest, Woman’s World, and many more, where we expose scams and help people find authentic home-based work. Lastly, we’ve strived to avoid statistics-heavy discussions of telework studies , analytical treatments of business process outsourcing , and so forth. These are important, certainly, but aren’t to the purpose here. When I saw this title pop up at the library, it seemed promising. It may still be, but a browse through the appendix of websites mentioned in each chapter revealed an entire section on finding work as an "adult texter/ phone actress."
